Flashing Beacon
This Flashing Beacon product was developed for North America Traffic www.northamericatraffic.com The project included concept development through to final design and tooling design. This Flashing Beacon product was developed for North America Traffic www.northamericatraffic.com The project included concept development through to final design and tooling design. The Flashing Beacon was chosen as "Product of the Year" for 2013 as awarded by the Association of Rotational Molders at their annual conference. The Flashing Beacon is a solar powered LED signaling device used in conjunction with a variety of traffic signs. The customer, North America Traffic, had developed the technology and had asked us to design a housing that could be used in a number of different geographical regions where environmental conditions would vary. The traditional metal enclosure was not sufficient for this application. The challenge of this design was to incorporate several components and securely house them while maintaining the integrity of the housing based on the environmental scope. Consideration had to be given to ease of installation and variables including snow load conditions to ensure that the unit could optimize solar exposure. Rescraft developed the housing utilizing a single tool which significantly reduced the go-to-market costs.
Coaches Caddy
The Coach's Caddy project incorporated concept development through to final design, tooling design, component sourcing and final assembly. The Coach's Caddy was a turnkey project to develop a portable carrier for housing coaching equipment for the hockey industry. Our customer provided the project scope and a wooden mock-up of a proposed design. The challenge of this design was to integrate several component requirements into a single unit without adding multiple fastening features that would drive the product cost up. Utilizing locking features between the various molded parts and developing tight-toleranced self-locking keyed assemblies we were able to reduce the number of fasteners to two hold-down straps. In addition to the design of the plastic parts, Rescraft sourced components and negotiated pricing for all purchased components including the retractable handle, wheels, and whiteboard. Rescraft also provided the complete assembly, quality inspection and packaging of the Caddy for direct shipment to the end customer.
Mobile Display
This Mobile Display product was developed for R.Jones Print and Display Inc. www.rjonesprintanddisplay.com This project included conversion to plastics, final design, component sourcing and final assembly. The Mobile Display product was developed for R.Jones Print and Display (www.rjonesprintanddisplay.com) The product was designed for confectionery displays and incorporates an innovative removable signage wrap that can be changed out for multiple customer promotions as compared to permanent graphics. The challenge of this design was to develop a container that would incorporate a false bottom utilizing the cutout from the top of the container. The bin was sized to an optimum display height, but product needed to be accessible within an appropriate reach. The notches in the bin to accommodate the false bottom and signage wrap became design concerns specific to maintaining the shape during cooling process. Vertical channels were added to shape to eliminate the concern. In addition to the design of the plastic parts, Rescraft sourced components and negotiated pricing for all purchased components including the low-profile wheels. Rescraft also provided the complete assembly, quality inspection and packaging of the bin for direct shipment to the end customer.
